Dr. You-Qiang Song completed his PhD study in genetics at the University of Reading, UK. He did his postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases at the University of Toronto before he joined the Department of Biochemistry, University of Hong Kong. Dr. You-Qiang is currently an assistant professor at the Department of Biochemistry of The University of Hong Kong. He is also a key member for the Hong Kong HapMap team, the Hong Kong Developmental Genomics and Skeletal Research, and The National High Technology Research and Development Programme of China.
Dr. You-Qiang Song’s researches mainly focus on understanding the molecular basis of human complex diseases, especially in neurodegenerative diseases, spine related disorders, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Using the Systems Genetics approach to study complex traits and understand relationships between genes, Dr. You-Qiang Song has identified and mapped several novel genes in the genetic pathways linking to Alzheimer disease and cancer.
